POST 2: READING BOOOKS AND MAGAZINES.

Today I will talk a little about my reading habits ... Usually, I read quite a week, mostly subjects related to my PhD; however, when I go on vacation (or ends the semester), I prefer to read other books (less scientific or psychological). For example, I like to read fiction novels or intrigue, drama no catches my attention. In this sense, two of my favorite books are Mysterious Island by Jules Verne and The Count of Monte Cristo (Le Comte de Monte-Cristo) by Alexandre Dumas
When I was a kid, I read everything I had in my house, from fables to thematic books (although at first I did not understand much xD); Also in 1993 thieves burgled my house, and the books were the only thing they didn't take; for this reason read became a frequent activity.
About of the last book I read... it was "Insurgent" of Veronica Roth, it a novel about a dystopian future in the city of Chicago; is oriented to a teenage audience, and actually, I read to promote the habit of reading my niece (so I could discussed with her the chapters). Although being a teenager reading, I recommend, in some chapters there is a very good development of the characters, but I think the end became very quick (perhaps because it is only the first part of a trilogy).

What about you?
See you

POST 1: A COUNTRY I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT

Hi every one! Today I was thinking about my summer's vacations and where I can go...but I think I'm going to Arica. Although if I had the chance, I would go to travel across the South East of Asia. Why travel to this area? Because I want to know the culture, eat the food, and see the architecture of the temples (by example Angkor Wat, Cambodia); Also I think it's an introspective travel...

Though, to make a trip like that, I should prepare enough... since I know very little about this region (just what I've seen on TV programs). So, I know that is an area of contrasts with attitudes which would be somewhat shocking for a foreigner, but at the same time, there are amazing things that I want to live. But, if you ask me... I don't know if I if I would settle down in one of the countries of the South East of Asia... I think being there I really know if I will adapt or not.

Finally I leave a phrase that represents what I think about visiting other places or countries

“I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move.”
Robert Louis Stevenson, Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennes

Post 8: Animals

Did you use to have a pet when you were a kid?

Yes, i used to have a pet, I had a 5 dogs, and when a I was a teenager I had 3 cats (thanks god  my home has a bigger garden)

Do you think it is right to keep wild animals in a zoo?

I like the zoo, but if you ask to me, i think the animal don´t like the captivity... I really like the zoo with free animal in the zone, like a some zoo in the world o in Santiago (I don't remember the name of one of this).

Have you ever been bitten by a dog? (... by a snake)

When I was a kid a I've been bitten by a street dog of my neighborhood... that is a curios history, because it enter to my home (when a was alone) and bite me... I did a big scream, and my dogs come to save me, beginning a fight with the homeless dog. Later my mom cook a lot of food to the dogs.

Do you know what animal you are according to the Chinese Zodiac?

Yes... I'm a Rat... OK, that isn't sounds god; but to the Chinese Zodiac the rat it's a remarkable animal, because it's organized and careful... also, they say the rats had a good eye to business.

POST 7: A CAREER RELATED WEBSITE

Hi my dear visitor!

Today I'll talk about one of my favourite sites to look scientific articles; I'm talking about of Google Scholar!
If you ara a Student like me, do you know what i mean, If you don't... You MUST visit the following link:

Gloogle Scholar (GS) it's a powerful web search engine, specialized in scientific articles and related magazines. This site allow  search digital or physical copies of articles, whether online or in libraries. As a Pshychology, I use a lot of time in my academic work, and as a student I use it like a bible (xD).
One of its most useful features is the alarm for references of articles; allows you to get an email to your account each time a particular article (of your interest) is mentioned (or used by another author)...

To be continued...

POST 6: ART

The Art... I think art it's important, because is a way to expression the feels, thoughts and intentions. I like it because it's a reflection of the work of the author, when I watch a work (plastic, cinematographic, photographic or otherwise) I try to see the implicit labor, asking to myself what the author was thinking?, or what he had to solve?. When I was a kid, I draw every day a lot of things... I wanted to be an architect, but I can´t take that career. At the present, I still drawing and designing furniture or items to help me every day.

My Master Pieces

I think I have a lot of manual skills (xD), because I can make furniture and origami. Since few months ago, I have been interested in modeling putty, but I think it is an ability that takes time and dedication to get optimal results. However..., the Work of Alvaro Stuardo made me feel jealous; his works (as seen in the photos) are simply spectacular!

Alvaro's Work

If you ask me my opinion of the new forms of art, as I explained, I like to appreciate the works of art from an analytic point of view; so I try to keep an open mind.

To finish this post, I'll share a photo of a Dragon origami; this is a "rank A" model which I'd like to do in the near future. Currently I don't have the skills to do it... It's very difficult.

POST 4: FILMS

Hi everybody, today I'll talk a little about my favourites films, I think that I am a person who enjoys the seventh art (xD), so I try to go to the cinema every week; and watch movies on my computer the weekends, or see one of my Blu-ray's collection (pirates, of course xD).

Overall enjoy various genres, but I prefer productions with unexpected twists, or an intricate story, understandable only to the end of the film. This year, a movie that I really liked, was "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", has a good beat and an intricate story (in my spectator and reader of comics opinion). In addition, the last week I saw "How To Train Your Dragon 2", at Hoyts Cinema, and looks good for me, with a perfect balance between happiness and sadness periods (also in 3D it´s really spectacular). If you ask me for a favourite director, actually I have not a favourite (because all have successes and things to forget xD), but I like the last work of Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino and Josh Whedon.

My favorite movie it's... well, actually are at least four: "The Shawshank Redemption", "The Untouchables", "The Last Samurai" and "The Pianist". Each has stories where the protagonist is confronted with new challenges or situations that force him to be someone different. However, if I must choose one, "The Shawshank Redemption" is one of my favorites, tells the story of Andy Dufrasne a banker accused and sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his wife and her lover. The arrival at the prison represents a change of 360 ° in his life. The movie narrate the process of adaptation, the value of keeping hope, and still be a person. This movie is starring by Tim Robbins (Andy Dufresne) and Morgan Freeman (Reed, Andy's best friend in jail).

Why is it my favorite? Because, I really like the message to keep hope, not succumb to adversity, and enjoy the little things (as a curiosity, this film is based on the Stephen King's novella: "Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption"); I've seen it a lot of times and I absolutely recommend it (approved by Reinaldo xD).

To finish this post, a few days ago I've wanted to see (again) "The Usual Suspects", because of its cast and its great story (with many changes and an unexpected ending); I don't wanna make spoilers, so I'll just say Keyser Söze's rules!

POST 3: MY FAVOURITE PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY

Hi everybody In this post I want to talk about my favorite technological device... OK, actually, I have two pieces of technology that are my favorite (xD): my computer and my mobile pone.

I changed devices for years (I got my first laptop around seven years ago, and eleven years ago in the case of my mobile phone), but in 2013 the computer and phone became almost my best friends (xD). If you ask me why, I think they are very useful for communicate with my family and friends living in Arica.

I bought my current computer in 2012 (Samsung RF511, is a very powerful laptop), and change my phone two months ago (LG G2, have a good screen and processor). I use both devices in a very similar way, because I use them to play games, browse internet, listen to music, read comics and communicate with my family and friends; also with my phone I can take pictures and edit them on my computer (with a application, Picasa for example).

As you can see, I use very often (and I really like to do); so I spend time looking for a good device performance; because I don't like buy something just for the brand (Apple, for example... xD).

How would my life be without them? Actually I think it would be hard at first (like all change...), but I can learn new ways to have fun, and although it's slower... you can always write letters (lol!).

POST 2: EXPECTATIONS FOR A NEW SEMESTER

This semester I'm only doing the subjects of the Diploma of Quantitative Methods of Psychosocial Research. In spite of this, I have a lot of objectives and expectations; first, I need to define my research topic for the PhD program, because at the end of this year I must take the qualifying exam. For this reason, I want to work on a topic related to the characteristics of my region of origin. My extracurricular activities are focused on meeting my friends from Arica, which also are studying in Santiago; travel across the city on my bike and watching movies in the cinema or on my computer. At the moment I'm not doing any activity at the university, because I was working the last year and didn't have enough time to participate in other activities (I hope to change that soon). Also, I wish to realize each of my subjects, and define my research topic, and finally able to go to visit my family in July.

POST 1: MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Everything you wanted to know about me and was afraid to ask (xD)

Let me tell you a little about myself... I was born on 03 November of 1984 in Arica, a city in the northern of Chile. I lived in this city for 27 years; I studied the basic education in three schools to finish my formation at the "Domingo Santa María" High School.
In 2008 I graduated as a Psychologist at the University of Tarapacá; at the present time, I'm doing the second year of the PhD in Psychology at the University of Chile, so I live in Santiago since 2013.
I'm the only man of four children, and my family is composed of a total of eight members.
I like computer games and read comics; also I like crafts and woodworking.
As a sport, I visit places in the city on my bike (I hope to make the road to "Cajón del Maipo" ASAP).
